The workshop intends to provide a forum for scientific exchange and cooperation in the field of discrete optimization. Topics will also include scheduling theory, graph theoretic and polyhedral methods and related fields. This workshop will continue the tradition of biannual workshops on discrete optimization and the scientific cooperation with eastern European universities.
The workshop will be open for up to 50 participants in order to stimulate discussion and cooperation.
Participants are expected to arrive on Monday morning. The workshop will start after lunch on Monday and end after lunch on Friday. It includes an excursion on Wednesday afternoon to the Wörlitzer Park followed by a workshop dinner.
It is intended to publish a selection of the extended abstracts in the serie of preprints of the Otto-von-Guericke University.

The abstract should provide sufficient details concerning the results and their significance. Submission of the abstract by email as a LATEX file is encouraged. The LATEX framework for the abstract is now available. Please fill it out and return it to heidemarie.braesel@mathematik.uni-magdeburg.de. It is also possible to immediatly send the extended abstract (not more than 3 pages) for publication in the serie of preprints of the Otto-von-Guericke University.
The participation fee will be approxiamatly 220 Euro for one person in a double room / 250 Euro for a single room. It includes registration, accomodation and meals from Monday noon to Friday noon, coffee breaks and social events.

The workshop will take place in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, a beautiful old town with an
important history.
In the year 2002 one of the oldest universities of Germany
"Leucorae-University Halle-Wittenberg" will celebrate its 500'th birthday. The
conference facilities are locarted in the old buildings of the Leucorea. This creates
a stimulating atmosphere for discussion and cooperation.
Lutherstadt-Wittenberg can be reached by train. The nearest airport is Berlin. Detailed travel information will be sent together with the final program.
