Space-time finite element methods in biomedical applications
For the discretization of time-dependent partial differential equations we consider space-time finite element methods which are based on variational formulations in the space-time domain. We will give an overview on existing approaches, and we discuss applications such as modelling the bidomain equations, hyperelastic materials such as tissues, and in fluid mechanis. Finally we will comment on ongoing work on space-time finite element methods in fluid structure interaction problems.
